If only I were able to emulate the verbose prowess of Stanley Lieber, I would probably caption the scene above as follows: "He hears a lonely voice cry out, across the continent. With grim determination, he launches himself into the sky, flying towards the source of scream."
Since this strip does not really have a punch line, I guess I should tell you an old corny joke so you won't leave this page completely devoid of mirth:
"Time is money," the waiter mumbled as he added the date to the bill.
I think I just saw the shadow of a smirk crossing your face.
It was great fun to go and shift into this somewhat different style.
And Man, is it ever so tedious to draw a computer keyboard.
