This strip refers to somewhat inflammatory statements made "Regarding Chanology."
While the "Suppressive Person Declare" is an actual document and its nature is described accurately, everything else presented here is fiction.
First off, I did not get such a letter, nor do I believe that's likely to happen (they're used to cast out former members). Second, there are no "merit badges" to go along with the letter – even though I think there should be.
The comment in the third panel is a continuity joke.
The idea for this strip dates back to July 2007, i.e. shortly after I launched the comic.
The frontispiece is a somewhat devious allusion which only a certain audience will get. No, I won't be more specific than that.
